Dr. Arvind Kumar Singh (b. 1959) is Professor and Head of the Department of Ancient Indian History, Culture and Archaeology, Jiwaji University, Gwalior. With the academic and administrative responsibilities of the university, he is involved in teaching and research, and has published over 150 research papers in reputed national and international journals. He also has twenty-two books and four edited volumes to his credit. He has also been the chief editor of a bi-annual journal entitled Puranveshana: Indian Journal of Archaeology and Tradition of which seven issues have been published so far. His passion for palaeography and epigraphy has resulted in the discovery and study of thousands of epigraphs from northern Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and other areas. Due to his efforts, in addition to the development of Nagari script, inscriptions of Lichchhavis, Gahadvalas, as well as those of the districts of Gwalior, Datia, Shivpuri, Bhind, Morena and Sheopur are available in book form.
